In this episode of That’s a Great Question, John explains how a small amount of Blu-Tack-style modeling putty can help keep your REL firmly in place while improving its coupling to the floor.
Social Media Question:
“I’ve dialed in my 1205 MKII and it sounds really nice, but I have one issue?
They love to walk, lol.
If you’ve experienced this problem, can you let me know how you tackled it? A quick GGoogle search brought up a few items, but I’d like to hear from the REL family.
Update: it’s on hardwood floor. Hence the walk.”

Yeah, great question. Thank you. So simple, go to Amazon or some similar e-tailer and get a product that's kind of colloquially referred to as Blu-Tack.
There are 50 different derivations of it that all seem to have the word tac at the end of it. It's like a modeling putty. It was originally developed to allow you to put posters up on the wall in your dorm without having to nail them up or or put pins in and, you know, lose your security deposit.
You're going to want to roll a wad up on a 1205. I'd say, oh, about an inch, 3/4 of an inch across. Just make it a little round ball. Stick it on the bottom of all four. Only when you know where it is, because once this thing goes down, it's not going anywhere for a very long time.
Doesn't glue, but it's sticky. You're just going to want to press down on the 1205 when it's in exactly the right location you want. And those things will spread out, squash down, and intimately couple it to that hardwood floor.
