For when there is simply neither the space nor the need for all the output of a larger HT model. HT/1003 applies the same approach as its impressive stable mate and scales it down by just a little. 10” high-powered, long throw driver and 300W means it has plenty of power on demand. This unit is intended primarily for high powered home theater applications, immersive gaming set-ups, and pairs nicely with active powered loudspeakers. Scaled down design, up-sized performance.Find a Dealer

Bring on the special effects
HT/1003 delivers a tough, honest, purpose-built appearance designed to communicate its sole mission; extremely high output home theater at bargain pricing. The cabinet’s width is minimized reducing visual mass, whilst depth is maximized to produce the deepest bass. We selected tough, high-grade, horizontally oriented line-grained composite to wrap the entire cabinet. Easily handled, easily cleaned. Yet, the top surface that one’s eye sees is beautifully finished in 5 coats of hand rubbed lacquer, creating the visual appeal we’ve come to be known for.
Speed & Slam
Ten-Inch CarbonGlas™ Driver
REL’s driver prowess is on full display with the HT/1003, a modern 10” CarbonGlas™ (250mm) driver that is both lightweight and extremely stiff. While many competitors drone along with relatively slow, heavy cones HT/1003 uses tough, stiff carbon fibre over 60% of the driven surface, backed by lightweight glasfibre. Naturally, we use true high quality natural butyl surrounds as they remain soft and pliable for decades—something REL owners have come to expect. We believe the new 10” CarbonGlas driver sets a new standard for affordable, high performance theater-specific drivers.
Punching Beyond Its Weight Class
300 Watts: To accomplish our single-minded goal of exceedingly high output for large-scale theater in a such a compact footprint requires a special amplifier. Our NextGen5 Class D amplifier frees up interior space whilst running cool; this results in more cabinet volume and that translates into ultra-deep bass despite its modest footprint. 300 watts means the driver is never starving for power ensuring high output, delivered effortlessly in a long running, reliable design. Within HT/1003’s input filter, we designed specific inverse filtering to permit our CarbonGlas driver to extend much deeper than conventional designs.
zero compression wireless compatable
There is wireless and there is REL wireless. We are well-known for having the finest wireless purpose-built systems in the component audio world. Though HT-Air™ is affordable, it retains our corporate fixation on zero compression and maximum dynamics. HT-Air is designed to leave old fashioned Bluetooth-based systems in the dust, delivery latency in the 16-20 millisecond range. This permits owners to place their HT model wherever it works best for you without resorting to unsightly cables being strewn across the landscape of your living room.
I sent my Vintage Stampede sub to Rel as it was making a strange noise when playing Star Wars The Rise of The Skywalker .
Rel could not find a problem with it and suggested it wasn’t really up to the job, however they could fit a new driver that would help .
I decided to put the money towards a new model HT1003
So glad I did , it’s fantastic and far superior than my old Stampede .
Thank you Rel support 🇬🇧 for your patience , guidance and all your help in advising me with the right subwoofer for my system!
I was very apprehensive about moving from class A/B to D ,
I needn’t have worried, in this case it’s much better.
Now I want one for my Hifi system! 😀
This Rel is my third in almost 20 years.
I started out with a second hand Q50 on a students budget.. And years later I was able to invest in a Storm 3. Which I had for many years.
When parenthood happend I spent a few years without home audio.
This Rel marked my re-entry in the home audio-happiness.
Please don't let this "baby-sized, entry-sub" fool you in any way. My living room is about 10 by 6 meters. (32x20ft) and 2,5m (8ft) high. And this little (wife friendly ! ) cabinet delivers like I wouldn't believe. Ive spent the last 18 years as a professional live-sound engineer, and I'm used to all kinds of sub, sound pressure levels, and WOW factors.
And this little baby knows how to put a smile on your face. It's fantastic with classical music on whispering levels, and it will make you uncomfortable at party levels. It's tight and fast as a drum. It has depth, power and speed. It offers so much for such a great price.
I would recommend investing in a decent subwoofer cable though, it really does do a lot!
Absolutely no downsides? Sure, if I have to name something; it lacks a bit of musicality. But then again, the series is called "Home Theater" :-)
Would 10/10 recommend to a friend
HT/1003 is a good addition for someone looking for small footprint
The subwoofer has plenty of low end for movies. When tuned right the sub is very musical an blend very well.
I'm using this sub in my apartment living room with a TV and a pair of Totem Arros, though my primary use is for music. I'll never be able to push the HT/1003 to even a fraction of its full output capabilities, but even at low volumes the bass precision and detail are evident over the Klipsch sub I upgraded from. Being skeptical of music vs. home theatre subwoofer marketing, I was swayed by the lower frequency capabilities compared to the T/i line, while I admit the importance of reaching into the low 20 Hz range for music is far overblown, ultimately the price was right, so I dipped my toes into REL with the HT/1003 and I'm totally satisfied.
I've had many subwoofers over the years, starting from silly plastic ones to ones that at their time were decent movie subwoofers that packed a lot of punch. And I was happy. Today, however, I got my first REL. It's nothing short of amazing what happens when you hear a quality sub for the first time in your own livingroom. Yes, I've heard plenty of good subs over the years, but this was the day I got one of my own, got to set it just right, got to listen to all my favourite songs all over again and felt like "Wow, I'm not sure I've ever heard that one thing over there before".
My first REL, but most likely only the first of many.
Reviews + Awards
Although the HT/1003 is a departure from purist REL philosophy, the result is an outstanding-value home cinema subwoofer. For AVR owners after a compact, affordable bass box that delivers movie mayhem in spades, look no further. If your budget runs higher, a pair of HT/1003s could be a consideration. And for soundbar users looking for a sonic upgrade, you won't get more bang per buck than this. Read More +
Home Cinema Choice
The REL HT/1003 impressed right from the start, with a cracking performance in terms of its bass presence. I was immediately impressed by just how much low energy this relatively small sub could generate. I have recently reviewed some much larger and far more expensive subs like the SVS PB-4000, but the HT/1003 held its […] Read More +
