Design

Reimagined, Then Reengineered

Many don’t realize the intense linkage between performance and design here at REL. Performance is everything to us and so it drives physical design revisions. Our engineers, recognizing the need for greater acoustic volume to achieve the goals of greater fluidity and power, turn to the designer who works dimensions to fool the eye into seeing a smaller, more compact footprint even though cabinet volume increases. Using gently rounded corner radii that allows the eye to flow over and see less visual mass. The result is both modern and familiar with no unnecessary adornment.

Driver

Outsized Performance

To achieve higher output with better control requires a complete overhaul of the suspension components. Much like the suspension on a sports car, these items are responsible for the tuning and feel of our designs. By increasing the cabinet volume, efficiency is improved yielding higher output for no more amplifier power. Less back pressure inside the cabinet means we can tune for a stiffer, better controlled driver suspension. We retained the best aspects of our previous design, such as the aluminum center cap responsible for stiffening the lightweight 10” (250mm) cone while adding almost no mass. The updated combination produces considerably better attack and dynamics with greater transparency.

Amplifier

Tried and True Amplifiers

We have retained our signature Class A/B amplifiers used in every generation of Serie T since 2006. Reliability is the key to happy ownership and with some 200,000 and counting of this range leading long happy lives, Serie T/x owners can feel certain of REL’s standard setting reliability. The powerful 300 watt mosfet amplifier used in the T/9x remains an icon with huge reserves of current, massive power supplies but small upgrades are found everywhere. New driver mosfets that open up performance and transparency and new methods for securing the toroidal transformers mean better performance and superior strength.

REL’s legendary High Level Input connection and fast filters are a significant part of the REL story. Connecting via the speaker outputs of your amplifier without drawing any power from it may seem like magic, but the real magic lies in the way the sound takes on a natural character. Unique tuning and special limiters mean the T/x range sounds fresher, faster and more dynamic than before.

Standby Mode switch is only included on 220V units.

Wireless

Wireless that Doesn’t Compress the Sound

At REL, we’ve developed a sterling reputation for building the finest sounding, fastest wireless systems available in the industry. We never rely upon digital compression as it results in dull, lifeless sound. Instead, we have perfected an (optional) Arrow wireless system so fast and dynamic we’re comfortable encouraging the use of wireless on one channel of a pair of RELs while the other channel may be connected conventionally with cable.

Is the T/9x good for both music and home theatre systems?

Can T/9x be integrated with other REL subwoofer series?

Yes, the T/9x can be integrated with other REL models. This comes in handy when building a REL 3D set up where you can mix and match different models and pair them with different sets of speakers in your theater set ups. For stereo pairs, two of the same model is required to achieve the stereo effect. In theater setups, it works beautifully alongside other series—such as Serie HT or Serie S- to improve impact, clarity, and balance for realism that is sure to make you smile.

Is the T/9x wireless compatible?

Yes, the T/9x is fully compatible with our Arrow Wireless System, which includes all the same input options found on the rear amplifier panel. Arrow delivers high-performance wireless connectivity with zero compression and ultra-low latency—ideal for clean, cable-free installations or setups where the subwoofer is positioned farther from your main system.

What size room is ideal for T/9x?

The T/9x performs best in medium to large rooms, typically between 150 and 400 square feet. Its combination of driver size and amplifier power delivers rich, room-filling bass while maintaining the speed and clarity REL is known for—whether in a 2-channel music system or a home theater setup.

Can I stack T/9x subwoofers in a line array?

No, the T/9x is not designed for vertical line array stacking, and we strongly advise against attempting it. However, it excels in stereo pair configurations for music and in REL 3D setups. For vertical stacking applications, we recommend stepping up to the HT/1510 Predator or our Serie S subwoofers.

Way better than any sub I previously owned.

"I have owned a half dozen subs from other audio companies. These subs added a little depth to my music, but did a better job with my home theater setup. I got a couple of HT/1205's which were better than my other subs with music and significantly better with my home theater, but I still wasn't thrilled with the sound. A sales guy at Best Buy convinced me to try out the T/9x. Oh my gosh! The difference with my music was huge! It even did better than my HT/1205's in my basement how theater. The tower speakers I use in my living room have two ports in the rear and tend to create very boomy base. I can't move my speakers 4 fear away from the was because it takes up way too much space. I am sure a lot of other people have the same issue. I solved that by blocking the ports on my tower speakers and using my REL subs to take up any slack in the base. After some tweaking and moving the sub around a bit I get a sound with lots of depth with no booming. I recently got a T/7x for my upstairs music system and moved my T/9X downstairs to my home theater. If anything the T/7x might be a little quicker than the T/9x and the newer sub plays plenty deep for 99. 9 percent of the music I listen to. I have also never needed to shake the whole house with base from my home theater so I am very happy about how well the T/9x does for movies. The bottom line is I am very impressed with my T/x model subs."

The best sub is one you can't hear.

"And this one is the best there is. My amp has an A and B speaker output. The T9/x is connected to the B speaker. When the amp is set to A+B the sub is in, with A no sub and B sub only. With B you can hear the minimal output from the sub and you think, "that's not adding much" but with A something is missing, only with A+B does the music sound complete along with a wider truer sound stage. I bought this because of the 60 day return policy and fully expected that it would not make a difference and that I could return it. . . but your'll have to pry it from my dead hands to get it back. Wait till you hear what is does for theater . . . . . now you'll hear it!"

"Sounds spacious well made. . Many ways to hook up best integration with yca would be with full range rca not lfe into hi level rca input. Also pay atention to nalanveed input instructions so you don't get hum. . Please turn down overly bright back led and easier to access power switvh. Overall great just dont trust your room correction 100 percent mine kept cutting 4db at 62 gz that made it sound flat made a curve like front speaker for lfe and bingo great sound"

A great decision for me

"I paired 2 T9x's with my Focal Chora 826 atmos surround and am pleased as punch . For music they r so much more accurate and faster than my SVS ported . My REL's give me some of the earthshaking while being alot more musical . I'm getting more music quality and a little less in movie performance ,but it's exactly what I want. They pair well with my very fast Choras. I have them setup to expand the musical range of my Choras,but I can turn up the volume for movies and then reset it . Im over the moon ."
