Design

Designed to be Better

Many don’t realize the intense connection between performance and design here at REL. Performance is everything to us and it leads to physical design solutions. Thus it is, that our engineers, in recognizing the need for greater cabinet volume to achieve the goals of greater fluidity and power, turn to the designer. He works dimensions to fool the eye into seeing a smaller, more compact footprint, even though cabinet volume increases. Using gently rounded corner radii that allows the eye to flow over and see less visual mass. The result is both modern and clean with no unnecessary adornment.

Driver

Drive On

The 8” long throw active and 10” passive drivers are where T/7x derives its incredible speed and clean finish. A thorough revision of critical suspension components are responsible for the agility and suppleness of T/7x. The T/7x sounds louder and more powerful is expected, but few would predict it also is faster, more reactive and transparent than our prior generation, itself a paragon of virtue. Stiffer suspensions better suited to advanced duty mean not only can each driver trace minute details, but also travel farther and handle more power.

Amplifier

Tried and True Amplifiers

We have retained our signature Class A/B amplifiers used in every generation of Serie T since 2006. Reliability is the key to happy ownership and with some 200,000 and counting of this range leading long happy lives, Serie T/x owners can feel certain of REL’s standard setting reliability. The powerful 200-watt mosfet amplifier used in the T/7x remains an icon of sound and reliability with huge reserves of current. Massive power supplies are used and small upgrades are found everywhere. New driver mosfets that open up performance and transparency and new methods for securing the toroidal transformers mean better performance and superior reliability. The best gets better.

Zero Compression Wireless

At REL, we’ve developed a sterling reputation for building the finest sounding, fastest wireless systems available in the industry. REL never rely upon digital compression as it results in thin, lifeless sound. Instead, we have perfected an (optional) Arrow Wireless system; so fast and dynamic we’re comfortable encouraging the use of wireless on one channel of a pair of RELs while the other channel may be connected hardwired with cable.

What size room is ideal for T/7x?

Can I stack T/7x subwoofers in a line array?

No, the T/7x is not designed for vertical line array stacking, and we strongly advise against it. However, it excels when used in stereo pairs for music or as part of a REL 3D setup. For vertical stacking applications, consider stepping up to the HT/1510 Predator or our Serie S subwoofers.

Transformed my system!

"The T7x changed my bias about not needing a sub for two channel audio. The form, fit & function of the T7x is top notch and far exceeded my expectations. The Neutrik Speakon cable made integrating the sub into my system a breeze. I have CSS Audio 1TDX speakers with the upgraded x-overs (2 way speakers) that have great bass to begin with and adding the T7x completely opened them up. They don't have to work as hard which improved the mid bass to be punchier, deeper with chest pounding bass. In addition, I noticed more sparkle, clarity on top. The overall soundstage/instrument separation has widened and became holographic at times. Worth every penny!"

Amazing subwoofer

"These subs are expensive, but worth it if you care about high quality musical full range sound. As promised, it blends seamlessly with my speakers - you usually can't tell it's on or that the sound is coming from its direction, but there is a beautiful full range sound down to the lowest frequewncies. It's not boomy at all. Works great for TV/Movies as well, but not as big and boomy for movies as other subs. IMO that's a good thing, and is perfect for music. really well built, quality item, with beautiful depth of sound."

T7/x 90 minute dial-in!

"I bought this to compliment a custom sub by Jim Salk, using a 8" Dayton Reference Subwoofer speaker, dual passive radiators, and a Yung 500W class D plate amp in a beautiful curly maple cabinet that I've been using for 5 years. I now know it is C- speaker and amp in a beautiful cabinet. I can't wait to get rid of it already, and buy another T7x. It's a night and day difference. I'm already (not broken it yet,3 hours on it) hearing music below 50 hz that I could never hear before. So musical and fast! YAY!"

Fine tuning

"I’m using four thin metal washers with two parallel thin ropes of mortite under each foot, much better sounding bass (won’t foul the area rug) then washing machine vibration reducers (too elevated). I have one sub inside the left speaker and slightly in front pointed to the center of the room which improved blending and coherence. I’m still fine tuning the sound but it’s really nice. Wouldn’t mind another one (wireless) next to my listening chair. Using 30hz crossover and 1 o’clock gain currently. Mains are -3 at 48hz but with output into the 20’s according to the manufacturer and 3-4 ft out and 4-5 ft from side walls."

Perfect match for Cantons

"The black T7X I just got matches the looks of my 1st generation Canton Vento Reference 7 perfectly. I cross it at 30hz with about 10:30 of gain. I needed to put it on washing machine isolators to get the sound right on my suspended floors and it’s on the inside of the left tower about 3 ft from front wall. My speakers have Gaia’s so I kind of expected that. The Doors 1st album was one of the main reasons to buy it. Now it sounds right. I’m having a ball with it. More than enough for my two channel system. Great quality product."
