T/9i RED Ltd. Edition
A tradition has emerged at REL that once in a great while, we take an existing model that we consider to have special merit and imbue it with special characteristics. They are always rare, may even become collectible someday and offer a unique way to enjoy an already special model more deeply. But don’t wait, there are exceedingly few of these available and they will be gone very quickly.Find a Dealer

Reimagined, Then Reengineered
A completely redesigned flagship
T/9i delivers more than just raw output. We started with our driver upgrades and built outward. The lovely cabinets grew by 4 lbs. (1.8 kg) over its predecessor due to thicker cabinet walls and improved bracing. Why? Because the additional speed and impact of the new drivers requires greater control or the benefits can be lost before they get to the listener.
Innovative Alloy/Fibre Bass Engines
The new composite alloy/fibre engine in T/9i blends precisely the correct dimension of stiffening alloy with a fibre material chosen for its sonic neutrality and light weight. The combination is brilliant; exceeding the performance of competitors’ drivers that are many times more expensive. The forward-firing 10” active couples with a 10” down-firing passive, again with carefully chosen balances of alloy to fibre and the result is seamless, effortlessly deep bass that blends perfectly with the main speakers.
Great Subs, Great Amps
The Brains Behind the Brawn
Our acclaimed input filters and robust amplifiers result in some of the best sounding, most reliable designs ever produced. High current power supplies, huge toroidal transformers, and what many critics call the best filters in the world produce the famous REL Effect—where in not simply the bass region but ALL music and movie sound is uplifted and improved.
Standby Mode switch not included on 110V units.
Zero Compression Wireless
Following on the heels of the acclaimed LongBow™ Wireless, Arrow delivers much of the promise and connectivity of hardwired RELs with the placement flexibility and pure cool factor of great wireless for all of T/i. For a reasonable sum, Arrow gives you the ability to place subs in distant corners, along glass walls, or on hardwood floors where a cable would otherwise destroy the effect.
Stereo pair of red T9/i to complement B&W 705 Signature stand mounts. Large, high-ceiling room so it took a lot of experimentation. My spouse loves the red color but there were locations that didn't meet our aesthetic and practical needs. Ended up in front L and R corners pulled out and angled in, behind and lateral to the main speakers. Replaced the speaker cables with Blue Jeans custom 10' with spades that come off the binding posts on the rear of the B&W's (checked with REL and OK) and connect to subs with real Neutrik brand Speak On plugs. Sounds great and looks great from the listening position.
I have a T7i partnering my TV but purchased a T9i for my ageing but still excellent music system. The Kef 105/3 speakers I have had new since 1992 along with Audiolab monoblocks are still giving anything a run for their money at any price. But on the way down to 45 Hz and tailing off at way above that the addition of the T9i supplements and then adds and then adds some more. The easy set up adjustments on the T9i ensure a nuance to be added or for the right music, party time! I sat it on a solid 40 mm thick piece of granite, it looks good, compliments my system very well indeed and has allowed me to fall in love with my system all over again. The only downside is that I have missed so much of my music over 27 years! This product really has finished it off.
Have paired with an Ambeo sound bar and a 65 inch Sony A9G
Coming from a 10 year old Bose Acoustimass with about 560 watt Onkyo Amp this system totally blew it away!
So natural sounding. Feels like you are in concert hall or live theater with the performers right in front of you.
Incredible range on the system. Never knew a good sub could make such a difference
Tested many subs and owned many. This is an amazing lil sub. Can’t say enough to compliment this sub. Very impressed!!!!
I was always a believer that a good stereo shouldn't need subs. Then i heard the T/7i at the store and was explained how these work differently to surround or standard subs, intrigued i dug deeper (YouTube - Paul we've all seen his videos). Couple weeks later I pulled the trigger on a pair of T/9i. Best decision ever. Not just for the extra bass, the Focal Aria 948s pull very good bass, but more for the realism, depth and sound stage which i thought could not get much better on my system/budget. There is no way i can listen to music with out these now. The REL T/9i pair completely changed my listening experience.
The build quality is outstanding and something you would expect for something more than double its price.
I have also set these up in a kind of small room (5m x 4m) with big speakers. I can control these in this space with ease.
Thanks for a great product!

I’ll be the first to admit that I didn’t hold out much hope in being able to integrate a subwoofer so easily into my current setup. Primarily due to not accounting for one over recent years and placing more and more furniture into the space, which in turn decreased the ability of positioning for such an addition. But I have to give great credit to the guys at REL Acoustics for creating a subwoofer which A. has the perfect range of controls to seamlessly take on the remaining last couple notes in the bottom end so well as well as fleshing out the midrange and treble very naturally and B. has such a fast and agile responsiveness that it kept up with the speed of my ceramic drivers. "I mentioned the use of two T9/i subwoofers, and what makes the addition of a second sub interesting is that unavoidable modes contingent upon the dimensions of the space, in other words the resonances, are less excited with this configuration. Use two subwoofers in different positions and you can run both at lower level than were one to be trying to fill the space with a single sub, one reason why two subwoofers are better than one, even two mid-sized ones rather than one large one. The drivers usually respond more quickly and, with less cone movement, can create the same sound pressure as one doing all the work alone, usually meaning distinctly less distortion and audible effortlessness." "As I spend more time with the T/9i and the drivers settle in, I find it requires a slight reduction in level to continue to integrate unobtrusively with my setup. What it brings to the way a system handles recordings old and new is insightful, and one of the most rewarding additions to my hi-fi setup in recent times, allowing the main loudspeaker to do its thing, but even more so." “REL’s T/9i is an excellent subwoofer for the audiophile. It’s capable of making big bass noises, but is also more than capable of freeing up the loudspeakers and liberating them from the dictatorship of the room. While there is no substitute for huge bass traps and other room treatments, a pair of T/9i get you most of the way there without the domestic angst room treatment can cause. Highly recommended” Read More +

"To some, the only thing better than a subwoofer is two subwoofers, and that was certainly the case when we tested the REL T/9i. While a single T9/i delivers the speed and depth we have come to expect from REL designs, the true strength of the argument comes when you use a pair of subwoofers, but not in the way you might expect."
