A Perfect Blend of Power and Elegance

The below text is a transcription of the video.

Hi, this is John Hunter with REL and we’re really excited to introduce our brand new, beautiful white HT range. We’ve got an entire range of these. There are three of the HTs, starting at the 10 inch with 300 watt, 1003, step up to the 1205, that’s at 500 watt amplifier or 12 inch driver, and then big papa here at 15 inches and a 1000 watts. There are very few rooms that this won’t flatten. I’m gonna be focusing on the HT 1510, which is the flagship of the line. And to give you a sense of scale, by the way, I’m 5’10 inches tall, 5’11, which translates to about 1.8 meters for those of you who are in the metric system. And you can see this is quite a large piece. This is a 15 inch, which I believe is something like a 353, 360 millimeter driver.

Big driver, big beautiful cabinet. This took us a while to do. Now we’ve had the HTs out for years and they’ve been very, very successful. And the motif is really simple. We use these high gloss caps in order to sort of break it up with a horizontal line graining. Line graining is when you literally take a piece of aluminum, for example, and you run it up against a belt sander, you get these beautiful striations. This didn’t exist, so it took us a couple of years. We introduced the second generation of the HTs, but it took us as a couple of years to get this developed to the point we felt really good about this. Think about how many homes out there benefit from either white or a mix of black and white. I’ll come back to the black in a minute, but there are all kinds, and for those of you who look at this and go, oh, we’re not modernists.

We’re more traditional, right? We hear that a lot. That’s fine. Most homes these days are some light pastel, right? Whether it’s a soft, you know, yellow, there’s a beautiful, beautiful soft baby blue that you see, the light grays. All of those things have one thing in common, and that’s an off-white bassboard typically. So you’ve got a white bassboard to a light color, putting a black subwoofer up against that, especially if you have light furniture, maybe a little bit much for the decor of the room. So this answers all kinds of things. Now let’s get to the actual fun, subwoofer part of this. This is a real big beefy, huge power supply. 1000 watt amplifier, driving a 15 inch driver that’s got about two and a half inches of track to it, so it’s capable of putting a huge amount of very deep bass out into the room.

This is designed to be the best that we know how to do at the moment in producing really big special effects bass. When you’re watching a movie, particularly if you’re starting to have some of these bigger screens that we’re seeing out there, there’s an impact. The scale and size and the WOPof the bass has to match the scale and size of what you’re seeing on these screen. At home, we’re just getting ready to build out our own theater. We’re just gonna have a 16 foot screen. We can’t use tiny subwoofers to do it. We can make great bass out of little subs, but these are a whole different category. This is designed to interleave with our T/x range, which gives you all the high level functionality and all the wonderful things that traditional RELs have always offered. But these are designed to give that extra thing where you go, oh, what just happened on screen, that was a little bit scary.

We’re here to scare you in a really good way. So we’re really thrilled to pull this all together, and I love some of the little subtle touches we did. We normally use a light cool gray on our T/x range. For whatever reason, it didn’t do it for us here. And so we’re using a beautiful combination. It’s a gold foil on top, but it’s got just a hint of copper in it. So it’s a warm kind of gold to it. We work probably an extra month to get the exact blend of tone and depth on the top crest alone. You guys are gonna love these. These are amazing pieces. They bring theater to life, and now they bring theater to life in a way that allows you to integrate it. You know, we love you in Miami. We love you in Phoenix, we love you in LA, all of Northern Europe that just loves our white product. Check out the new white HTs. They’re coming your way.
