Director of Global Sales

REL Acoustics is a manufacturer of high-end award-winning subwoofers for use in two-channel and home theater. Founded in 1990, the current REL Acoustics is a thoroughly modern and innovative company well-versed in state-of-the-art design, electronics, and acoustic techniques. As innovative as they are reliable, REL subwoofers are noted for their ability to reveal nuances in music and film not previously associated with this product category.

We are seeking to hire a Director of Global Sales. Reporting to the managing partners, this role is responsible for leading an international team of sales managers and reps, setting and executing budgets, maintaining sales forecasts, as well as identifying regional and channel opportunities for further growth.

Qualified applicants will have experience selling to retailers and international distributors of all sizes in all parts of the world (from small boutique retailers to large national chains) in both North America and internationally. This individual should understand luxury selling and be comfortable in a multi-channel business (product is sold B2C online and B2B through traditional store front retailers, custom installers, and international distributors). Past experience in consumer electronics or luxury consumer goods is preferred, but not required. REL Acoustics’ headquarters are in Berkeley, CA. While living in the Bay Area is preferred, it is not required. If living outside of the Bay Area frequent trips to the Berkeley office is expected

Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain sales budgets and forecasts
  • Conceive, create, organize, and execute sales strategies for North America, United Kingdom, Germany, and distributors throughout Europe and Asia
  • Generate, organize and analyze sales data to help identify opportunities and set priorities for the sales team
  • Track dealer, installer, and distributor performance in terms of demos, sell through, and marketing
  • Develop and maintain relationships with dealers and distributors (from small boutique retailers to large national chains and international distributors)
  • Manage all employees in the sales team by setting travel schedule and prioritizing agendas, tracking performance, and ensuring follow up tasks are executed
  • Plan sales/demo events and trade shows
  • Identify opportunities for growth and execute initiatives related to new product and growth plans
  • Propose strategies for moving into new territories, sales channels, marketing, and increasing brand awareness
  • Hire members of the sales team as the company grows
  • Create a sales dashboard and reporting system to keep partners and executive team informed
  • Lead group meetings and 1-1 on meetings
  • Maintain a weekly meeting with the managing partners to provide detailed status updates
  • Use software to organize and transparently complete job including QuickBooks, ASANA, and Slack
  • Past experience using and introducing CRM required
  • Travel domestically and internationally as much as necessary to execute job successfully. Expectation is at least two times per month, though this will vary depending on time of year and initiatives
