SHATTERING PERFORMANCE BARRIERS
S/812 takes REL’s medium chassis concept to reference-like levels of performance and does so with style, beauty and devastating power. It delivers incredible levels of all ‘round performance for both music and film sound, gives customers a taste of what our reference models offer.
EXTREME PERFORMANCE, COMPACT PACKAGE
For S/510, every aspect of the previous generation’s inner workings were examined without regard to its critical and customer-driven success. We turned a fresh eye to power requirements, driver improvements, and specialty filters, upgrading each-to extract all the extra performance possible.
Home Cinema Choice Honors the S/812 With a Best Buy Award
What really impressed me isn’t just the power and depth of the bass, but also its nimbleness. The S/812 can deliver the kind of fast and precise low-end that not only suits music replay, but also picks out key low frequency effects in the best movie soundtracks.
Hi-Fi Choice Highly Recommends the S/510
The S/510 diggs deep and has the power and speed to delight with up tempo tracks and a subtlety that heightens engagement when the music demands. It’s inclusion adds scale and makes listening fun, which is really what it’s all about.
To permit its thin, aluminium to survive 800 watts and incredibly long stroke we added an ultra-lightweight backing of pure carbon fibre, strategically placed over portions of the rear surface of the cone.
MORE POWERFUL AMPLIFIERS
The increase in power is needed to deliver both the profound output levels needed for modern theatre, as well as the deepest bass in a high end 2-channel system.
STACKED FOR ULTIMATE PERFORMANCE
In the real world, bass occurs with width, depth and height. By stacking up to 3 units per side the proper perspective and height of sonic events are illuminated.
S/510 & S/812 Reviewsfrom 141 reviews
Quite frankly the best audio investment I have ever made. It performs beyond any stated or implied advertising.
Thanks for all the blood, sweat and tears that it took to develop such a magnificent instrument of sound.
I have always loved REL subwoofers and always will. I recently moved to a larger single family home and my older S3 was too small for the family room. After watching 1 movie, I knew it was time to upgrade the S3. I received my new S812 yesterday and set it up last night. I only sampled some scenes from Rocketman last night and I'm simply blown away by the improvement! This was money well spent. If you like high end audio, you will LOVE this subwoofer!
S/812: Great packing on shipment. Black gloss is beautiful.
Easy installation. Sounds perfect. Placement tuning gave about +5db, rotation +0db, the crossover was difficult for me to hear a major change.
I have lots of tube traps which smooths out the room. I used an iPhone app to create a live FFT
waveform and then compared different positions and watch the change in the low-frequency response.
I used tracks 4 and 5 of the CD Best of Food for Woofers by Bass Mekanik. Room is 16x37x12 to the ceiling.
Traps in corners and across the front of the room over fireplace what is not used in Arizona.
I bought two S/5’s 6 months ago for my 2.2 system. After falling in love with them I decided to move the S5’s to the 5,2 theatre system and buy two new S812’s for my 2.2 system.
There is a noticeable improvement in the lower range bass with the 812. Other than that, they are both awesome units.
I did notice the owners manual says they are rated 700W with a NexGen3 amp. Not 800W and NexGen5 as advertised. They should correct this. It’s still a good upgrade of the line.
First I must say thanks to the entire Rel team who spent A LOT of time helping me understand their products and choose my new sub. I have Focal Sepora No.3 front speakers and needed a powerful sub to play with them. John helped my choose the S-812 and I could not be happier. The speed, accuracy, and definition make this an incredible find. I purchased 2 for a stereo sound, but had to return one secondary to damage and decided that I did not have the room for 2. John and Rachel were very helpful in first helping my decide if I should keep the 2nd sub and then the return process. I was going to place the 2nd across the room and use wireless technology, but Justin helped me understand the sound field would not be stereo and not what I was looking for. Please watch all the videos John put together and if you still have questions the support team, including John, will answer any and all your questions. Excellent company and excellent products.
