A team of judges from the Clarity Alliance spent Friday visiting every room at the show and scoring each one against a list of criteria. Only four awards were given to the most deserving exhibitors. Congratulations to REL Acoustics limited for receiving a coveted “Clarity Award” at the 2013 Bristol Show!

Excellent sound was achieved at the REL Day event with a 2-channel system consisting of PMC loudspeakers, Naim electronics and of course, a REL R-528SE Sub-Bass System. The system was demonstrated with and without the REL and as is always the case, the audience had no difficultly identifying the virtues of a precisely tuned REL! The system exhibited greater soundstage depth and low frequency extension – the typical “REL Effect”.

The cinema room was outfitted with “REL 3-D” using a R-528SE underpinning the main L/R speakers, a T-5 for the rear L/R and a T-Zero supporting the center channel. Each REL was wired using either the high level, low-level inputs or both simultaneously – a REL exclusive. Needless to say, the soundtrack to the submarine movie U571 was stunning in its ability to create a “you-are-there” moment. It’s clear to see how when using REL’s, home cinema systems can be created that vastly exceed the sound quality found in the typical public cinema. Brilliant!

In an upcoming review of the R-528SE, Alan Sircom of the UK’s HiFi+ magazine said, “The control it has over the bottom end is prodigious, and it’s closer to the Gibraltar than the Serie R. That control makes it integrate with the main loudspeakers perfectly”…. “It can go deep and loud, but it’s capable of the subtlety needed to make piano preludes dance off the keyboard.
